Introduction:

The project aims to enhance the Central Workshop at IITH, established in 2009, by addressing space constraints and optimizing the layout for future augmentation. The existing facility, located in an industrial shed, lacks sufficient space for machinery and operational needs.

Objective:

Led by Dr. Karri Badarinath, Associate Professor in the MAE Dept. and Faculty-in-Charge of the Central Workshop, the project aims to optimize the workshop layout, creating more space for machinery and demarcating it into training and production floors. This involves adding a mezzanine floor for offices and light machinery, rearranging the shop floor, and establishing a new carpentry shop and paint booth. The objective is to efficiently utilize the available space and accommodate heavy machinery, enhancing the workshop's functionality and capacity. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of providing quality education and contributing to industry, innovation, and infrastructure, addressing SDGs 4 and 9.

Timeline & Budget :

Year 1: Mezzanine floor addition and shop floor rearrangement (Approx. Rs. 25 lakhs).

Year 2: Establishment of carpentry shop and paint booth (Approx. Rs. 50 lakhs).

Year 3: Completion and final adjustments (Approx. Rs. 75 lakhs).
