Introduction:

The project led by Prof. Renu John aims to establish a world-class Medical Institute at IIT Hyderabad, leveraging the institution's expertise in MedTech Innovation. This initiative focuses on medical education, research, and innovations in healthcare, fostering collaborations and translating research into practical applications.

Objective:

Prof. Renu John, from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, spearheads the establishment of a cutting-edge Medical Institute at IIT Hyderabad. Building on the institute's robust foundation in MedTech Innovation, the primary goal is to revolutionize medical education, research, and healthcare delivery. Objectives include fostering innovations in medical devices, advanced diagnostics, AI-enhanced medical solutions, biotechnology, bioinformatics, genetics, and materials for biomedical applications. The proposed work aims to strengthen infrastructure, expand collaborations with medical institutes, and facilitate technology translation from laboratories to practical applications. The project aligns with SDGs 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Timeline & Budget:

Year 1: Strengthening infrastructure and capabilities (INR 50 Cr).

Year 2: Expansion of collaborations and research activities (INR 75 Cr).

Year 3: Continued innovation and technology translation (INR 100 Cr).
