Introduction:

The project seeks infrastructure support for the Department of Artificial Intelligence at IIT Hyderabad, established in 2019. The department pioneers AI research in India, with faculty engaged in cutting-edge projects, and aims to expand its infrastructure for enhanced research capabilities.

Objective:

Led by Dr. Maunendra Sankar Desarkar, Associate Professor and Head of the AI department at IIT Hyderabad, the project aims to bolster the department's infrastructure. With a focus on constructing a dedicated building and establishing a large data center, the initiative aims to support foundational and applied AI research. The expansion will accommodate more researchers, fostering growth in areas such as limited labeled data, fair and bias-free AI algorithms, resource-efficient AI solutions, and applied domains like agriculture, mobility, healthcare, education, defense, and disaster management. The infrastructure upgrade is expected to attract top-tier faculty, facilitate impactful research, and contribute significantly to the country's technological advancement.
