Introduction:

The project focuses on upgrading IITH's Central Workshop, established in 2009, to meet contemporary manufacturing demands. It addresses the procurement, repair, and upgrade of machinery, ensuring the facility remains at the forefront of practical training and research.

Objective:

The objective is to enhance the Central Workshop's capabilities by procuring new machinery (precision lathe, laser welding, electric slip roll, spot welding, EDM Wire cut) and addressing repairs and upgrades for existing equipment (5 Axis machine, Anil lathes, magnetic table for Vertical Machining Center). This initiative aims to bridge gaps in conventional manufacturing, ensuring the facility's efficiency and modernization. By introducing advanced machinery, the project enables precision works, expands welding capabilities, introduces sheet bending, and improves overall machining precision. Repair and upgrades extend the service life of existing equipment, maintaining reliability. The initiative aligns with modern trends in manufacturing and supports the educational and research objectives of IITH's Central Workshop.

Timeline & Budget (Year Wise):

Year 1: Implementation of Precision Lathe, Laser Welding, and Electric Slip Roll (Approx. 39 lakhs).

Year 2: Integration of Spot Welding and EDM Wire Cut (Approx. 73 lakhs).

Year 3: Repairs and upgrades for existing machinery (Approx. 24 lakhs).
