Endowment

Description:

To recognize and encourage the outstanding work of young research scholars, IIT Hyderabad (IITH) has decided to give the Best Ph.D thesis award of Rs. 50,000 annually in the department of Civil Engineering. An endowment amount of Rs. 10 Lakhs ($ 140,000) would be needed to sponsor this award to the selected student every year. Apart from this the donor may contribute Rs. 50,000 towards the first-year award, as the endowment would take a year to yield the returns.

The award will be given in the Donor's name. The donor shall ensure that the proposed name is enhancing the reputation of the institute.

Selection Criteria:

1. The candidates should have completed the defense at the home university.
2. The thesis will be reviewed for the technical depth and significance of the research contribution, the potential impact on theory and practice, and the quality of presentation.
3. A committee of eminent faculty researchers from IITH will be formed who will evaluate the entries and determine the winning thesis.

Validity of the naming Right:

The naming right will be for a period of 10 years subject to extension on additional top-up contributions to sustain the infrastructure. This will be based on mutual agreements.
