Endowment

Description:

IITH is looking forward to setting up the Best Student Sportsperson endowment (male or female). Alumni/individual can contribute individually or collectively to set up the endowment. IITH will set up a process of inviting applications, evaluating the applicants and choosing the winner, through a committee. The chosen awardee will be given an award money of Rs. 25,000/- and a citation. The award is proposed to be set up as an endowment of Rs. 5 Lakhs, and the returns earned at an average of 5% would support the prize and the citation.

The award is proposed to be given annually for one best student sportsperson.

Creating a named endowment:

1. The endowment opportunity is offered to alumni, who are interested in contributing to their alma mater or any other individual or organization. The donor can name the endowment.
2. The donor shall ensure that the proposed name is enhancing the reputation of the institute.
3. The amount required to set up the endowment is Rs. 5.0 Lakhs. Apart from this the donor may contribute Rs. 25,000 towards the first-year award, as the endowment would take a year to yield the returns.

Validity of the naming right:

The naming rights are offered for a period of 10 years. However, in the event of the endowment amount being insufficient due to lower yields, or the management enhancing the prize money, the institute would approach the donor for a top up fund to meet the additional requirement.

If due to any compelling reason the name given to the endowment needs to be changed, the institution may approach to the donor to provide an alternative name.
