The IKS Students’ Chapter has been newly established at IIT Hyderabad under the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HST) is envisioned as a vibrant student-led platform to promote a deeper understanding, systematic study, and meaningful application of Indian Knowledge Systems across disciplines.

Its objectives include fostering interdisciplinary engagement by connecting insights from Indian intellectual traditions with modern science, technology, engineering, humanities, and social sciences. The Chapter seeks to organize lectures, seminars, workshops, short courses, and interactions with scholars, practitioners, and experts to expose students to the philosophical, scientific, cultural, and practical dimensions of IKS.

It also aims to encourage research, documentation, and critical inquiry into classical texts, traditional practices, indigenous technologies, and knowledge frameworks, while promoting their contemporary relevance. Further, the Chapter will support student-led initiatives, projects, and outreach activities that integrate traditional knowledge with present-day academic pursuits, innovation, sustainability, and societal challenges. Through these activities, the IKS Students’ Chapter aspires to nurture informed appreciation, responsible application, and original thinking rooted in India’s intellectual heritage within the IIT Hyderabad student community.
